ACICA & Ciarb Australia International Arbitration Conference 2024

14 October 2024, Brisbane

This year the well-established lead event of Australian Arbitration Week (AAW), the ACICA & CIArb International Arbitration Conference, is entitled Powering the Future and Going for Gold: Is Arbitration Ready? The theme looks to the future of arbitration, the opportunities and challenges major sectors, such as energy and construction face, how sports arbitration can propel us forward, and how the fundamental elements of arbitration can be developed to power us into the future.

The keynote speaker for this year’s Conference will bring business and sport to the forefront of discussions, speakers from Australia and across the globe will share their perspectives through six dynamic sessions exploring different elements of the theme, and the much anticipated quiz will conclude the Conference!

The sessions include:

  • A keynote address by Dr Michelle Gallen, CEO of the Australian National Sports Tribunal
  • Around the world and back
  • Investor-state disputes – choose your own adventure?
  • Procedure as power: a deep dive discussion
  • What do you have to Prove? Practicalities of Evidence in International Arbitration
  • Powering tomorrow – challenges and solutions for the energy transition
  • From planning to podium – disputes arising out of the Brisbane Olympics
  • Arbitration Quiz – Go for Gold!

We are delighted to be bringing the Conference to Brisbane, a city that is experiencing an exciting period of growth and development as it prepares to host the Summer Olympics in 2032.
